Heavy Winds – Snow Squall – Sunset | Triple Hit

About the photograph
Strong winds and deep, wind-blown snowdrifts made this Sunday afternoon on the Ottawa River a challenge. My temporarily repaired tripod leg had broken again, but I kept going, hoping to photograph blowing snow in the sunset light. Just as the sun reached the horizon, the drift in front of me lit up beautifully.
Warm pink and gold light catches the sculpted foreground snow, while bare trees frame the left edge and blue-grey clouds stretch above the distant shoreline. Photographed in 2019; part of the Winter Light collection.
